“Say Hi to Abdo!” explores what happens when humanity is digitised and compassion is archived. It’s political science fiction, courtroom drama, and manifesto all in one.
Two people are on trial – Toomas, a former border guard, and Natalia, a travel agent – whose decisions and actions have affected the lives of more people that they can imagine. An expert and a lab assistant working at the Institute of Genocide help create digital memories of people, giving back voice to the voiceless – those whose stories were left at the border.
The production uses documentary material that director Mikita Ilyinchuk found on the Polish-Belarusian border.
